As you reach Pangot, you are guided to Jungle Lore Birding Lodge by the local people. A 5-minute walk down to the lodge rewards you with birds like Siberian Stonechat, Dark-throated Thrush, Slaty-headed Parakeet, Streaked Laughingthrush, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Yellow-breasted Greenfinch, Russet Sparrow, and many more.
More than 250 species of birds have been recorded in the area. One can have excellent birding opportunities in the lodge itself. Besides, there are numerous walks through the terrace fields into thickly wooded oak forest which are extremely rewarding.
Vistas of forested hills, fields of vegetables and slate-roofed houses are the highlights. In springtime, the red rhododendron and white apricot blossoms create a riot of color.
There are good trails from the lodge to Timla Pani, Ghughu Khan, Kilbury Forest Rest House and on to Cheena Peak, as well as to several bird watching points. The guide may accompany you on these treks (prior booking may be required).
The Lodge has 5 cottages, each with attached toilets with running hot and cold water. One of the cottages is a living room that serves as a common dining hall giving travelers a chance to meet like-minded people and never be short of conversations!
Interacting with other guests in the dining area around the fireplace, you wouldn’t miss room service. If you like any particular dish or are keen to learn local dishes, we can arrange a cooking lesson for you too. Feel free to exchange your recipes with our cook and make yourself feel at home.
Using farm-fresh vegetables and fresh spices from the village, our cook adds that extra zest to the flavors and aroma, churning out delicious traditional homemade dishes. Catering to most palates, we try and provide a varied selection of North Indian dishes in our buffets. Specific dietary needs can be accommodated with prior information.
We also got a nice trip from Bharatpur to Uttarakhand with (Sattal, Pangot and Corbett), with your driver and (bird) guide Joginder. He saved us from a snowy Pangot by leaving one day before the original timetable. An excellent decision otherwise we probably missed our Tiger in Corbett. Also this second part of the trip Joginder drove us very well. It was really nice to do this trip, also with him. We really enjoyed it!
Joginder showed us again some special birds like Jungle Owlet, Spotted Forktail and so on.
The Place offered a wonderful stay in the hills of Pangot . We stayed in the Jungle Lore birding Hotel in Pangot for three nights and the ambience was breathtaking . Lively People and such lovely hospitality and most importantly our first birding starts here Thank you.
I have spent the last few days here at Jungle Lore birding Lodge in Pangot along with two of my friends and I really cannot speak more highly of the lovely service we have received. The Lodge Manager was more than welcoming and has assisted us in all aspects possible. He was very professional, hardworking and kind, and I can’t wait to see what he does in the future! I’ve enjoyed our chats over the bonfire, having a laugh and exchanging perspectives on our different countries and cultures.
We have experienced continuously great service from all of the staff, especially Taj, who welcomed us into his home for chai and a meal, and everyone who continually provided us with delicious kumaoni (local)meals and service throughout our stay. I cannot thank them enough for their hard work and for making our trip even more special.
I look forward to my next visit to the beautiful Pangot & share the experience with my family.
What’s a fantastic place to stay! All of the staff have been AMAZING- so friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely trek to Naina peak with lots of birds and wildlife, including two brown wood owls. To top it all of the food was some of the best that we have eaten during our time in India.
Thank you Jungle Lore Birding Lodge.
We saw about 340 species of birds and 21 species of mammal, including a tiger and a leopard. We greatly enjoyed the scenery and especially the rich culture of India.
Back in our normal rhythm, we want to thank you for the services provided by Asian Adventures; Although we did not see everything we hoped for it was not the fault of our guides which were very good and tried anything to fulfill our wishes. We saw some very nice things and were very happy with what we saw. Indeed we would be very happy to welcome you to Belgium in May and show you how we managed to save the peregrine falcon in Belgium. Please let us know when you intend to stay sometime in Belgium.
Pangot was full of birds. The lodge was lovely and wonderful hospitality.
